Just north of Houston, The Woodlands is a planned community surrounded by greenery. The Woodlands Farmers’ Market was established in 2008 and has grown steadily since. If you are in the area on a Saturday, take some time to browse the fresh produce and artisan products from local vendors. 2. Concert in the park
On select Sundays, head to Northshore Park in the woods for an evening of free outdoor musical entertainment. You can bring picnic blankets, food and the whole family. The concert series is a seasonal program open to all music lovers.

3. Riva Row boat house
Riva Row Boat House is a boat rental service that provides facilities for those wishing to explore the Woodlands Waterway and Lake Woodlands. You can hire a kayak, stand-up paddle board, swan boat, or water bike, depending on whether you’re interested in a leisurely afternoon on the water or looking to try something more sporty and challenging. The views are spectacular no matter which one you choose.

4. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is an open-air amphitheater where you can often see your favorite artists perform. For many of their performing arts shows, they offer free seating to ensure all music lovers have a chance to enjoy the performances.

6. The Woodlands Waterway Cart
The Woodlands Waterway Trolley is a lovely transport system that allows visitors to see all of the sights and get off into the city center from time to time. Carts are free, so you can take a scenic drive along the Woodlands Waterway before enjoying the shops and restaurants the town has to offer.

7. Texas Treeventures
Texas Treeventures is a zipline challenge course through the woods that takes advantage of the area’s lush greenery. The class is great for adrenaline junkies – it’s designed to push people to their limits. It has three levels and 72 obstacles to keep you moving and thinking the whole time you’re at it. The courses are suitable for children, but keep in mind that children will need to have a parent with them on the course and meet certain weight and height requirements for safety reasons.

8. The Woodlands Shopping Center
The Woodlands Mall is a sprawling shopping center located near the Woodlands Waterway. You can take the trolley to the mall and then browse their more than 150 stores. There are plenty of kid-friendly spaces to keep your kids entertained during the shopping experience, as well as a food court with plenty of options for the whole family.

9. Rob Fleming Aquatic Center
There are few things as fun as going to a water park on a hot day, and the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center has all the attractions you could hope for: wading pools, a man-made river, slides, a huge water bucket. unload, and more. It might be fall, but that doesn’t mean Houston can’t always be humid and hot, so you should definitely keep this park in mind.

10. George Mitchell Nature Reserve
The George Mitchell Nature Reserve spans 1,800 acres of trails, trees and wildlife. It’s right next to Treeventures, so you can choose between hiking, biking, or ziplining once in the area, or just opting for both. Enjoy a shaded walk through the miles of forest trail along Spring Creek.
