Launch of CBUS Bike Tours this summer
You can already visit Columbus by segway or van, and soon you will be able to tour the city by bike as well. The brand new CBUS Bike Tours business will launch in a small space at 92 North Front Street, starting in June.
“This idea has I’ve always thought of something since CoGo, ”said co-founder Heather Bowden-Ebright, former executive director of CoGo Bike Share, as well as bicycle coordinator for the Ohio Department of Transportation. “We are still looking for bike tours in other cities, and we have started researching this like I always thought there would be a pretty good market for this in Columbus.
Bowden-Ebright said that she and her husband Jamie Ebright – who is also a co-founder of the new business – recently returned from a trip to San Francisco where they had a great bike ride.
“After that I knew we had to do it, and it has to be now,” Bowden-Ebright said. “I really think this will be a good opportunity for Columbus, both for visitors and residents, who want to experience the different neighborhoods and get an insider’s perspective.
The central location of CBUS Bike Tours lends itself well to the ability to start tours in any direction to visit The Short North, German Village, Olde Towne East and the entire city center. Bowden-Ebright said they would certainly run tours that also include the Scioto Mile, Scioto Greenways and the Columbus cycle path system.
“We can also accommodate larger groups who want to do their own thing, or plan a social run or scavenger hunt event, ”she said, noting that a party of eight is an optimal size and that different tours will likely range from $ 55 to $ 65 per person. .
CBUS Bike Tours is planning an inaugural event on June 1 with touring options throughout the summer.
