Interview with Monique Madison, co-owner

Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: I realized, after traveling around Europe and only spending a few days in each city, that the only way to get around and see it all would be to ride a bike. It didn’t even occur to me that a bike tour might be available, but after returning to the United States and doing a lot of soul-searching, I decided to follow my passion and transform my love for cycling and my gab giving into a viable business. .

Q: What sets you apart from other companies in your category?
A: We offer city and public arts tour and bike and beer tour. Plus, our tours run multiple times a day in the morning and afternoon, and we even try a twilight tour for the summer months.

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being outdoors first and foremost, and the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and show them how big Denver is. Plus, every visit is different. Unexpected and interesting things arise every day. You have to adapt to the weather, re-route the tour for a public event that you had not planned, deal with a flat tire, etc. You have to be able to manage what life has in store for us and go with it, and always come out like the pros.

Q: What is the biggest challenge for your business?
A: Coordinate guides for last minute reservations. In the summer we get a lot of phone calls for last minute visits. We like to keep our groups small for a more personal experience, but some mornings people call to join a tour that starts in an hour and is already full. This year we have more tour guides on hand and will be ready for those last minute bookings.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: Our bike tours operate all year round! With over 300 days of sunshine and plenty of balmy 60 degree days during the winter months, there is always an opportunity to explore Denver by bike!
