Rail biking is a great outdoor adventure in the Sacramento area
Hitting the open road with your own pedal power is a great way to exercise. But if you want to do it without worrying about traffic, hopping on a bike-rail is a unique outdoor adventure in the Sacramento area.
The line, which stretches for about 28 miles, was originally built by the Northern Electric Company in 1911. At first it was a passenger line, then it became a diesel freight carrier.

Rail bikes are built for one or two passengers, and if you don’t have your own, the company provides a helmet.

The route traverses the Yolo County countryside along the Sacramento River, offering spectacular up-close and personal views.

If you need a little break or if the steepness of a hill is a little too steep for you, there is optional motor assistance that you can activate to keep you going.

A day on the rails would make a great outing for a corporate team building, a group of friends or a special event like a family reunion, birthday, anniversary… you name it!

If you prefer to take the train, the River Fox Train Company offers an array of travel themes, including happy hour, Fancy Hat tea, beer and wine, Valentine’s Day and other excursions.
Great exercise, fresh air, scenic views and great memories. These are just a few reasons why a rail bike adventure should be on your list of things to do in the Sacramento area.
