Statue of Unity Now Offers Eco Tours by Electric Bike; SOU will welcome 5 million visitors next year, according to Tourism Minister KJ Alphons
Union Tourism Minister KJ Alphons on Thursday visited the world’s tallest statue of unity, which is now one of India’s top tourist destinations. Alphons, who is also the chairman of the National Tourism Advisory Council (NTAC), said the Statue of Unity will welcome nearly five million visitors by next year. The Union Minister also claimed that the tourism industry has created nearly 1.39 crore of jobs in the past four years.
Alphons said that since his inauguration by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on October 31 of last year, tourists from all over the world have started to flock to Gujarat. âWe need to harness the flow of tourists and convert various tourist destinations in Gujarat and other parts of the country into regular promotion,â Alphons said.
The Union Minister stressed that the government wants this goal to be achieved by promoting the Statue of Unity by synchronizing globally with national and national tourist destinations, with the help of the Government of the State and other stakeholders. “We will develop SOU as an iconic site with world-class tourism infrastructure and facilities,” he added.
Alphons also reported on India’s first electric vehicle tourism initiative launched by Gujarat Tourism in SOU, Kevadia. He inaugurated ecological electric bikes at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia.
While pointing to the electric bike, the Union Minister said that the electric bike tours will provide an immersive experience for tourists, allowing them to explore the beauty and history of the Statue of Unity and the surrounding area. ecological way. âSustainability is a priority for us and, through electric bike tours, we aim to encourage people to adopt eco-friendly tourism initiatives,â he added.
Union Minister Alphons met with Gujarat Principal Secretary SJ Haider and Tourism Commissioner Jenu Devan in Kevadia on Thursday. With the Narmada district authorities and NTAC members, they discussed the roadmap for the global promotion of the world’s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity.
The Union Minister of Tourism is in Kevadia for a two-day visit with NTAC members to plan activities to promote the Statue of Unity. Experts from the hospitality, travel and tourism industry were also invited to attend the meeting.
Recently, the Alphons informed the Lok Sabha that “income worth 19.47 crore rupees was generated from visitors to the Unity Statue from November of last year to January 31, 2019” and the number of tourists visiting the unity statue in Kevadia was 7,81,349 during the same three-month period. Citing the enormous popularity of the Statue of Unity, authorities have increased the time to visit the site by two hours.
